Numerous pools and large ponds dug by the monks of Saint-Beno\u00eet-sur-Loire dot the woods of the Lorris forest massif that surrounds the town. Local history tells us that in the 12th century, the Saint-Laurent was a spring with miraculous virtues<\/strong>: soaking your shirt and underwear in this stream cured rheumatism and gave strength to the elderly.<\/p>\n

Today it takes you to a contemporary monastery in the heart of the forest where the Benedictine nuns of Bouzy continue to make Eau d’Emeraude. As far back as the 17th century, Madame de S\u00e9vign\u00e9 boasted to her daughter of the relief Emerald Water<\/strong> brought her after a carriage accident. Made with honey, sage, mint and rosemary, this lotion soothes skin and mouth discomforts.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

Monast\u00e8re Notre Dame du Calvaire<\/a><\/h2>\n

Founded in 1638 in Orl\u00e9ans, the Notre-Dame monastery is now located in the centre of the Loiret region on the edge of the forest, 10km from the famous abbey of Saint-Beno\u00eet-sur-Loire.
\nThe modern stained glass windows are the work of Bernard Foucher.<\/p>\n

The nuns make the famous Eau d’Emeraude here, but it is also possible to stay at the monastery: “All guests will be received like Christ”.<\/p>\n

The monastery shop sells Emerald Water, but you’ll also find monastic products from other communities.<\/p>\n

The Tourist Offices of Ch\u00e2teauneuf-sur-Loire and Jargeau also sell products in their shops.<\/p>\n
